There I was born, there I also was living.

I was already I don´t know how old.

Here there was a different village, they built a new village, they brought me to Txaka village.

I´m going to tell you the names of the different villages where they made me live, listen well!

Mae kena xiadabuwen ea hiwetankunbidana mia yuinun, ninkaidawe!

To Txaka village they brought me, there they made me live.

Txaka maeanu ea iweni, hanu ea hiwemaxun.

There when I was a small child I was quite smart.

Hanu bakeixta daka mibi beni.

There I saw the Katxa Nawa feast.

there I saw Buna wai,

I saw the Nixpu Pima feast, I saw the making of Ha ika, I saw it and listened to it.

I lived learning. Again, after that, they made me (go) to a (different) village.

There I was already a little bit old(er),

(when) they made me go to another village.

There I learned various things.

(When) celebrating Katxa Nawa, they made a noise with the armadillo´s tail, I listened.

I took off the leaves of the papaya, broke it, we celebrated a Katxa especially for the children, we wanted to dance and to play.

The adults who were dancing and playing we always saw.

We wanted to touch the armadillo´s tail and play Katxa.

There they always played and imitated various things, there I was living.

Hanua beyusi imisbu mawa xiadabui hanu en hiweyuniki.

There the intelligent child was learning all sorts of things, my ancestors were doing all sorts of things (in their culture), I saw it and picked it up.

Hanu bakeixta unanepadaka mibidaka hamapai xiadabuaibu, en xenipabun hatun beya hamapaiaibu, uinkin bikindan.

From there they took me again to another village.

Hanua maei ana mae betsawen ea mae wanibuki.

There lived my grandmother.

My maternal grandfather and grandmother lived (there), my paternal grandfather lived (there), my paternal grandmother lived (there).

En txai inun en txitxi hiwea, en hutxi hiwea, en xanu hiweadan.

There lived my uncle (eldest brother of my mother) who had his plantation far away.

Hanu hiweken [en kuka] en kuka iuwatun txai haida bai wawaniki.

The name of the village was Jurupari.

Ha mae kenadan Xudupadidin.

He had his plantation at Jurupari.

Xudupadi bai wawaniki.

He cultivated his field, they went (there).

Ha bai wawani, buimabun.

There my grandmother, there itself on her arm she had a tumor that burst.

And then she left us, she died.

Hanuxun nukuxununiki, hanua mawaniki.

When she died, they didn´t want to bury her there (far away).

They brought her to Jurupari where there was the new field.

We followed them.

We followed those who brought my grandmother.

At the bank of where she died (the place was called) Bixikania and Tunku Inia (...), they brought her.

In another village they made a plantation of a normal size which they left and we went around it.

There we (they) crossed (a creek called) Xankan Inia.

Frome there then we (they) crossed the Taraya (creek).

Hanua unu tadaya pukeidan.

They had (their plantation) far away, there shortly afterwards they entered (the village), finally we also arrived.

Txai haida awanibudan, unu atimas bitxiabun, hatixundi nun hikiniki.

Finally we also arrived, there they buried for us my grandmother, in Jurupari.

Hatxundi nun hikia, hanu nuku mai waxunibuki en txitxidan, Xudupadianunan.

We came to Jurupari, there I turned into a man (who knows many things).

Ha xudupadianu nun huima, hanua en mentsis haidaniki.

There I was grown up, my uncles walked around with me and taught me how to hunt.

Hanua ewataskakin, en kukabun ea tanitximexun ea tsaka yusinibuki.

They made a hiding-place of palmtree-twigs, the youngest of them, Belisário, taught me.

Xankun xubu waxun, hawen maxkun hawen Belisario ea yusinkin.

"When the leptotila bird comes, I will order you to kill it", he told me.

I made hiding-places, made hiding-places from various fruits.

Ha xubu wakindan, bestitxai bimi xubu wamadan.

I made a hiding-place in the matamata tree, made a hiding-place in the uricuri tree,

Niwan xubu wakindan, xebum xubu wakindan,

hiding-places in different trees.

madipaxkun xubu wakindan, senu xubu wakindan.

I made a hiding-place where the squirrel scratches the uricuri fruit.

Xebum kapan bexa xubu wakindan.

I made a hiding-place from the agouti´s manioc (leaves).

Madin atsa xubu wakindan.

I made a hiding-place from the deer´s food.

Txaxun ati xubu wakindan.

Took off the corn (spread it on the ground) and made a hiding-place, take out the coconut from the tucumã-palm and made a hiding-place.

With any type of fruit I made a hiding-place right there.

First I learned to made a hiding-place.

I killed acouchis and agoutis.

Like that, my firstborn brother, my older brother, I grew up with him. I followed him, he taught me a lot, my older brother.

Haskadan, en iyuadan, en hutxidan, en habe badan. Hatun ea tanitxinmexun ea tapinmahaidaniki, en hutxinan.

There he taught me a lot.

Our father took off the uricuri fruit and made a hiding-place for us.

He didn´t go alone and took me (with him).

Ha mesti kama ea iyuxun.

He killed a small-billed tinamou for me, he killed a leptotila bird, he killed a cinereous tinamou for me.

Ea xudi axunkin, dei axunkin, bixtakuma ea axunkin.

When I imitated (the sound of the animals), he slapped me.

Hanua hawada hudu en mawaya ea matsan aka.

I didn´t imitate them any more and sat down.

Ana en mawama tsauken.

There came the acouti and he killed it.

Hanua tsanas huai atan.

We came, our father looked for us. He was whistling, when we came, we carried a lot (of prey) on our backs and he was happy with us.

Nun huaya, nukun ibuan nuku ika. Xo ikaya, nun huaya, nun midima tetsunbainaya nukun benimapauniki.

My brother killed animals for me.

En hutxin ea mitsanxunadan.

Then I still didn´t kill big prey, this he taught me first, he did it first.

Then I killed small prey, got used to it.

Hanuxun ha yuinaka pexemixtin tsakakin en beyawaya.

There I was living. After that they again cultivated the field.

Again they cultivated another field. They made me move to (another) village, I stayed.

My father stayed near here in another group of our family, Kinka Ubi, at the banks of the creek "broken canoe".

En ibu nedi nuku nabu xuku betsa, kinka ubikikai xaxu paduya xadexumen.

They built a big village.

Mae txai waxun.

They made a big field, planted vegetables for our family to eat.

Bai txai waxun yunu banaimabu ha nuku nabu pidakanunan.

They went to plant peanut and left me behind.

Tama wanun ixun ea xununbidanibuki.

My father and my other father (his brother) left me behind.

Ea xununbidankin, en ibu huni inun en ibu betsadan.

They only left my dear mother with me.

Hatun haki en ika ainbu pixta besti.

Me, they left me with them, went away. They left my grandfather (mother´s side) and my grandfather (father´s side) and my old grandmother (father´s side).

Eki, haki baxitan, beimabu. Na en txai anibu inun en hutxi anibu inun en xanu yuxabu.

They left us.
