There lived two brothers.

One of the brothers had many children, another had none.

Onʼiʔ kagat (i-) esseŋ iʔgö ibi, a onʼiʔ kagandə nagobiʔi.

The [brother] that had no children, used to come and take grain and put it in [his brother's] granary(?), he put much of it.

Dĭ, girgit esseŋdə nagobi, dĭ šobi da bar ipek ilie da dĭʔnə oraktə kămlia, kămlia, iʔgö embi.

Then that brother, which had many children, [also] used to come and put grain in his brother's granary.

Dĭgəttə (š-) dĭ kagan dĭn šində (i-) esseŋdə iʔgö šobi da bar dĭ kagandə kămlaʔbə.

[He though:] "He has no children, I have many children, they'll give me to eat.

"Dĭʔnə (es-) esseŋdə naga, (dĭʔnə=) măn esseŋbə iʔgö, măna bădəʔləʔi.

And he has nobody to feed him."

A (dĭ = dĭ=) dĭʔnə naga šində (b-) bădəsʼtə".

He pours him grain, he poured much: "Let him eat bread."

Kămnaʔbə dĭʔnə ipek, iʔgö kămnəbi: "Puskaj amgə ipek".

These two brothers were good persons.

Dĭ šide kagaʔi jakše il ibiʔi.

They felt pity for others.

Bar (il=) iləm ajirbiʔi.

They were very good.

Ugandə jakše ibiʔi.

One man had three sons.

(Onʼiʔ kuzagə=) Onʼiʔ büzʼen nagur nʼi ibiʔi.

He said: "Make a broom and bring [it here]."

Dĭ măndə: "(Deʔ- Deʔkeʔ=) Agaʔ vʼenʼik i deʔkeʔ".

They made and brought it.

Dĭzeŋ abiʔi, deʔpiʔi.

Then he said to one of them: "Break [it]."

Dĭgəttə măndə: "Băldaʔ", — onʼində.

He tried to break it, but couldn't.

Băldəbi, băldəbi, ej mobi.

Then he says to the second [son]:

Dĭgəttə šidögəndə măndə:

"Break [it]."

"Băldaʔ".

He tried to break it, but couldn't.

Dĭ băldəbi, băldəbi, ej (mobi) băldəsʼtə.

Then he says to the third: "Break [it]."

Dĭgəttə nagurdə nörbəbi: "Băldaʔ".

He couldn't break it, too.

Dĭ tože ej mobi băldəsʼtə.

Then he took [it] himself, untied(?) it.

Dĭgəttə bostə ibi, sarla ibi.

Onʼiʔ ilie (bar) (ogluʔpi) sarluʔpi da.

"Look, you must live together, [then] nobody will beat you, nobody will take anything [from you].

"Ot nada amnosʼtə vmeste šiʔnʼileʔ, šindidə šiʔnʼileʔ ej münörləj, šindidə ĭmbi ej iləj.

You got strong.

Kuštü (mol- mobil- moluʔ-) moluʔpilaʔ.

If you live alone, everybody can come and beat you.

A unnʼa (amnolabaʔ), šindi šoləj i münörləj kažnej (tăn).

Then they remained so.

Dĭgəttə dăre maluʔpiʔi.

One [old] man, as he was going to die, fell ill, said to his son:

Onʼiʔ büzʼe (kăda) kusʼtə molambi, ĭzembi, nʼində măndə:

"Every day put on new shirts.

"Kažnej dʼala kujneʔi toʔbdə šerdə.

And eat sweet things.

I (a-) nʼamga amaʔ.

And make the garden like fluff (?).

I (ăgărotbə) (puxtə) (al-) aʔ.

Then go to a neghbour.

Dĭgəttə susʼettə kanaʔ.

Then go.

Dĭgəttə kanaʔ.

Then go and take a rope and go to the garden and wait(?) there."

Dĭgəttə kanaʔ teʔme iʔ, i ăgărottə kanaʔ i dĭn (e-) (edəʔleʔləl)".

Then he came to a neighbour.

Dĭgəttə dĭ kambi susʼettə.

"Give me a rope" — "What do you need it for?

"Deʔ măna (ta-) teʔme — na što tănan?

"My father said me to wait(?) in the garden."

Măna abam mămbi ăgărotkən (edəʔ-) edəʔsittə".

Then he went with it to a tree.

Dĭ dĭgəttə dĭzi kambi dĭbər panə.

He says: "You did it wrong.

Dĭ măndə:" "Tăn ej dăre abial.

[To] eat sweet, you should work well, then [even if] you eat bread with salt, it will become sweet.

Nada (jakšeŋ togon-) nʼamga amzittə nada, jakšeŋ togonorzittə, dĭgəttə (tuj-) tus amnal ipeksi, i to nʼamga moləj.

And [to] wear every day new shirt, [you] should every day put a patch.

A kažnej (dʼan-) toʔbdə kujnek (šerzittə), nada kažnej (dʼan-) zaplatkə enzittə (šöʔsittə).

And then you should work well in the garden to make it soft.

A dĭgəttə ăgărodəm (pušitʼ) nada jakšeŋ togonorzittə štobi̮ (namər-) nömər ibi.

Then money came back to him (?).

Dĭgəttə dĭʔnə aktʼan pʼerluʔpi.

Now he lives well, he ((…)) so.

How do your people live - good or bad?

Then both came where their horses stood.

The men went in the forest to the Sayan mountains.

Tibizeŋ kambiʔi dʼijenə Dʼelamdə.

My grandmother sent her son.

A măn urgajam nʼibə öʔlubi.

"We'll bring us meat."

"Miʔ ujam mĭləbeʔ šiʔnʼileʔ".

Then they went, came, with the horses.

Dĭgəttə dĭzeŋ kambiʔi, šobiʔi inezeŋzi.

They say: "Run, look, what are the dogs chasing there."

(Dĭ m-) Dĭzeŋ măndəʔi: "Üʔmeʔ, măndot, ĭmbim menzeŋ dĭn dʼabəlaʔbəʔjə".

He ran, there is a bear.

Dĭ nuʔməbi, a dĭn urgaːba.

He [wanted to] climb on a tree, it [= the bear] came there.

Dĭgəttə dĭ panə šaʔluʔpi, dĭ dĭbər šobi.

The tree was very thick, he was running around the tree, and the bear was running after him.

A pa ugandə nʼešpək ibi, dĭ üge (nuʔməpi) kruk (pa-) pagəndə, a dĭ urgaːba (dĭ-) (dĭm) üge bĭdəbi.

And the dogs didn't let it [catch the man].

A menzeŋ bar ej mĭbiʔi dĭm.

It comes to him, and the dogs snap it at the back.

Dĭ dĭʔnə kalia, (a dĭ = dĭ=) a menzeŋ kötendə dʼabəlaʔbəʔjə.

The men waited [for him, then] went to look for [him], and there is a bear.

A tibizeŋ edəʔpiʔi, edəʔpiʔi, kambiʔi kuzittə, a dĭn urgaːba.

They killed this bear.

Dĭgəttə dĭ urgaːbam kuʔpiʔi.

He must have ((…)), he grew big.

Dĭgəttə dĭ năvernă (noerluʔpi), urgo özerluʔpi.

Later he married, they had children.

Dĭgəttə boskəndə ne ibi, (dĭzeŋ) dĭzeŋgən esseŋdə ibiʔi.

He fell ill, he shivered, he shot his sister dead.

He killed [his] sister's son, [too], and only slightly [wounded] my father in the arm, blood was flowing.

Sʼestran nʼibə kutluʔpi, i măn abam tolʼkă ej tăŋ (udanə = udanə bar=) udabə multuksi, kem mʼaŋnaʔpi.

Then he killed [shot] himself, and he died.

Dĭgəttə (bos- bos-) bostəbə kutlambi, i kulambi.

Then his wife went away to her relatives.

Dĭgəttə dĭn net (ka-) kambi bostə tuganzeŋdə.

Her [= their] children died.

Esseŋdə bar kulambiʔi.

She got ill, too.

Bostə ĭzembi tože.

She was in a hospital in another village.

Baška turagən iʔbolaʔpi.

The boy came to light the stove.

A nʼi šobi da pʼeš nendəbi.

The stove didn't burn, he said: "Close the stove."

A pʼeš ej kambi, dĭ măndə: "Kajdə pʼeštə".

He ran away (?).

Dĭ nuʔməluʔpi.

There was a lot of smoke in the house.

Turagən bar iʔgö bər ibi.

He got up as he could and went to the door.

Dĭ koe-kak uʔbdəbi i kambi ajində.

He couldn't open the door.

Ej mobi (aj- aji=) (k-) aji karzittə.

And he died there on the threshold from the smoke.

I dön (p-) părogən bərgə kulambi.

In the smoke.

He said: "Gavrila Shajbin lived in the forest, there in the mountains.

And he died there."

And he didn't die.

He went home here and died here.

He died; they made him a coffin, dug out the grounnd, made a cross.

Kulambi; dĭʔnə maʔ abiʔi, i dʼü tĭlpiʔi, krospaʔi abi.

Then they carried [him] and buried in the ground.

Dĭgəttə kumbiʔi i (dʼuz-) dʼügən tĭlbiʔi.

We were invited to a wedding.

Miʔnʼibeʔ svadʼbanə kăštəbibaʔ.

[My] husband and I, we went on a horse.

Miʔ kanbibaʔ tibizi, inezi.

We came there, we were sitting, eating.

Šobibaʔ dĭn, amnobibaʔ, ambibaʔ.

I didn't drink vodka, I was afraid [to drink] there.
