When we return back (and) enter (at the festival), so that we have a thing something to drink water with.

The rabbit said, hey, no.

He should leave (it).

When they return back (and) enter (there), they would find people who (would) give it to them.

La du yok du rwo / t'ong du kat gurum goepoe ni ndwen.

The Nti left the calabash.

They went out (and) went (and) found here a pepper tree that stood (there).

Mûep p'ûat mûen doe kat t'eng shita goed'yem.

The Nti said, does he see the pepper standing (there)?

Nt'i yi gwa na shita nd'yem b'e?

They pluck (the pepper), right? Maybe they would find some meat there in the place?

Du t'ek mu? Ko t'ong du kat ndoe lwa d'i mpe hok o?

They (would) eat (the meat) with it (i.e., the pepper).

They went (and) returned back (and) entered here.

Mûep mûen yok doe rwo.

They found here (the people) who were standing at (i.e., gurading) the entrance to the village.

Mûep doe kat moend'yam pûe / wa lu.

They greeted each other. They said, okay, they arrived (because of) the festival.

Mûep tal sek pûe mûep. Mûep yi to / mûep wul a / kaam hok.

They gave them a place (i.e., they made space for them). They passed (and) entered.

Mûep poe mûep pe hok. Mûep d'oeleng rwo.

They entered (and) sat here.

Mûep rwo doe t'wot.

They started to take boiled yam with (its) skin (still attached to the yam).

Mûep t'angoede mang a sh'im goend'an / goe shul.

They gave (it to) them here, so that they should eat (it).

Then the rabbit talked to the Nti.

The rabbit said, okay, (he) said, he has taken a long time.

Fûan yin / mûep mang lwa buk kam nni nyegoepe gwa sûût gwa ba d'at mou.

They came with porridge, so that they should eat (it) again.

Mûep doe goe shat / de mûep goe s'oe yi / zak-yit.

The rabbit said, he shouild rise (and) go (and) take the load of calabashes very quickly, he should return (and) come with them.

Fûan yin gwa goe yool goe mûaan goe mang / le d'a hok d'ad'at / gwa goe ba goe doe nni.

The Nti went and eventually returned, (he) returned and found the rabbit (and he) had finished eating.

Nt'i mûaan goe-goe ba / ba goe kat fûan s'oe lat.

(They) collected their dishes of calabashes, they, the rabbit said, they came (and) seized their dishes because he has taken a long time.

The Nti assembled the whole of this story (and) told (it) to the Ligya.

The rabbit lay in the hut.

The day came out (and) dawned, they would go out (and) go (for) another (journey).

B'it p'et lin / mûep t'ong p'ûat mûen nde.

All of the things that they found, that they did with the Nti, everything, the Ligya took (it and) would put (it) in his bag.

Bi goepe mûep kat dip / goepe mûep shin ndoe nt'i nnoe / ko-goenang / ligya mang t'ong loe nd'ûûn shang ji.

When they found this, the Ligya took (it), (and he) put (it) in his bag.

Mûep la kat goesoe / ligya mang / loe nd'ûûn shang ji.

(He) collected everything, (and he) put them in his bag.

War dip / loe nd'ûûn shang ji.

They went out (and) returned back (and) entered here at this place, (where there) is the festival.

They took yam, (and) they gave (it to) them.

Mûep mang sh'im / mûep poe mûep.

The rabbit received the boiled yam, with (its) skin, like they have done in the past with the Nti.

The rabbit said, Ligya, he should peel this existing skin.

He (i.e., the rabbit) should eat the flesh, so that he (i.e., the Ligya) should eat the bones, because his teeth, his teeth are strong ones for himself.

He (is) a young child.

The rabbit became angry.

T'oornung ya fûan.

The rabbit, (he was) bad--, (he) left the yam (and) gave (it to) the Ligya. The Ligya ate (in) his own way.
